Got you with that title line, eh?
This week's message at church was PERSONAL to all of us, because all of us have been practicing anger since 18 months old. Or maybe before that?
We learned that The Jesus Way of life offers freedom from anger's dark control - even if you're Irish or Italian or had a rough childhood or saw bad examples or can't stand your boss or hate reading your pastor's emails or...(fill in your excuse here). The truth is that PEACE is possible for you - and the power of God in your life can break anger and strengthen your self-control.
Anger is expressed in a thousand ways, but it always has one cause - my own choice. Anger doesn't come from outside of me, it sparks within me. And Jesus makes it possible for us to walk a different way (and not have to throw tantrums when we don't get our own!)
You can listen or re-listen to the message here, on our church sermon feed.
And, as promised, here's the acrostic for remembering how to conquer anger when it rears its head - to nip frustration in the bud.
The Jesus Way when you are first frustrated is to...
Agree to be peaceful
Never give anger control
Give justice to God
Employ anger only to love others
Replace evil with good
There's peace that passes understanding available for those willing to receive it. Remember, the GOOD NEWS is that you don't have to keep going your own way. There's a better path, and it starts at the Cross - and heads into the future from there.
Don't give up!
